Kumashiro describes 3 types of programs in teacher educations. These 3 types of programs are teacher as learned practitioner, teacher as researcher, and teacher as professional. I feel that “teacher as researcher” and “teacher as learned practitioner” both relate more to my experience at the U of R. Teacher as researcher goes over a lot with self-reflection and life-long learning, which is something that I have done a lot with in this program. Teacher as learned practitioner focuses on who my learners are, what I need to teach, and how I’m going to teach it. This is also something that has been discussed in my program, especially in regards to ESL students.
